Adopt a Budgie in Oakville

Small bird, huge personality — the perfect first parrot.

A budgie is the easiest parrot to welcome into a Oakville home — small, quiet enough for apartments and condos, and famously forgiving for first-time owners. Oakville sits perfectly between our Toronto and Burlington communities, with quick access to birds right across Halton and Peel.

Whether there's a budgie listed in Oakville today or you join the waitlist for the next one, adopting through Bird Sitting Toronto works the same way everywhere: apply online, chat with our AI screening assistant, and the BST team reviews every application personally. Birds across the GTA are usually only a short drive from Oakville, so the right budgie doesn't have to be listed in your exact city to become yours.

Limi is a lovely budgie, approximately 1 year and 7 months old. We were told he is male when we purchased him from the pet store. He grew up alongside our family cat, and they have a very special relationship. They are comfortable around each other, and Limi even gently preens her fur with his beak! He is generally a quiet bird, although he sometimes enjoys singing more loudly for short periods. We are looking for a new loving home for Limi because we are moving to a smaller place and unfortunately won't have enough space to give him the comfortable environment he deserves. This is a difficult decision for us, and we hope to find someone who will care for him and give him a happy home.

Meet Tipsy, a sweet 6-year-old blue female budgie looking for her forever home! Tipsy is a gentle, sociable girl who is a little timid at first but quickly warms up, especially if you offer treats from your hand. Once she's comfortable, she is tame, never bites, and will happily step up. For her age, Tipsy is very active and loves her daily out-of-cage time, where she'll fly to your shoulder and chatter sweetly. Her cage is her safe place, and she comes with her complete setup, including the cage on a rolling stand with perches and toys. She would suit a calm, patient home that will give her time to settle in and enjoy her surroundings. Every interested adopter must submit an application before being considered. A rehoming fee applies.

Adopting a budgie in Oakville — FAQs

Where can I adopt a budgie in Oakville?

Right here on the BST Bird Rehoming Portal. We list budgies rehomed from real homes across Oakville and the GTA. If none are available in Oakville today, join the waitlist with "Budgie" as your preference and we'll email you the moment a local match comes up — most GTA birds are only a short drive away.

Are budgies good for first-time bird owners?

Yes — budgies are widely considered the best first parrot. They're small, gentle, inexpensive to care for, and forgiving while you learn. They still need daily interaction, out-of-cage time, and a proper diet.

Can budgies learn to talk?

Absolutely — male budgies in particular can build vocabularies of dozens or even hundreds of words, though their voices are soft and fast. Talking is never guaranteed with any parrot.
