Rehome Your Cockatiel in Calgary

If you need to find a new home for a cockatiel in Calgary, Alberta, this is the free way to do it properly — and you are not the first. Cockatiels are among the most commonly rehomed companion birds in Canada, and that is not a reflection on you.

Calgary is the largest bird market in Alberta, and adopters here are used to driving — Airdrie, Okotoks and Cochrane all fall inside the same pool.

131 people on our adopter waitlist would be emailed the day you list.

28 have asked for cockatiels by name, and 103 have not told us what they are looking for, so they hear about every bird. Before you ever see an application, the applicant completes a screening interview — you read the answers, and you choose.

Listing is free, and it takes a few minutes.

You keep your cockatiel at home the whole time. We screen every applicant, you read what they said, and you choose — or you change your mind and nothing happens.

Why cockatiels get rehomed

Cockatiels are most often rehomed for noise and for time. The morning contact call carries through an apartment wall, and a tiel that is used to a person at home all day does not do well when that person goes back to the office. Neither is a sign of a bad owner — it is the commonest reason a 20-year bird outlives the household it was bought into.

Whatever the reason, you do not have to justify it to us. The only thing that matters from here is that the next home is the right one, and that is the part we are good at.

Why not just put an ad up in Calgary?

You can, and plenty of people do. The difference is who answers. A classified ad brings you forty strangers, several of whom are reselling; this brings you a handful of people who have each sat through a screening interview first.

  • Every applicant completes a screening interview before you ever see them, so you are choosing between people who have already explained their experience, their home and their routine.
  • You keep your bird at home the entire time. Nothing moves until you have picked somebody and agreed a handover.
  • You pick. We never place a bird without the owner saying yes.
  • No public phone number, no strangers messaging you at midnight, and no haggling — your contact details are never shown on the listing.

How it works

  1. Tell us about your cockatielName, a photo, Calgary, and how to reach you. Everything else — diet, temperament, health history — you can add later, and we will ask.
  2. We screen the applicantsEveryone who applies completes an AI screening interview about their experience, their home and their routine. You never see a bare phone number and a maybe.
  3. You pick, and you hand overYou read the applications, choose the home you want, and arrange the handover locally in Calgary. Nothing is placed without your yes.

Not sure you want to rehome at all?

A lot of what makes people give a bird up — noise, biting, a temporary move, a new baby — has a fix that is cheaper than losing the bird. It costs nothing to read it before you decide.
